a visual collaboration with Yuko Kaseki
„Energy moves in waves. Waves move in patterns. Patterns move in rhythms. A human being is just that, energy, waves, patterns, rhythms. Nothing more. Nothing less. A dance.“ (Gabrielle Roth)
KAGAMI (MiRRorS)
A poetic dance film performance in which love doesn’t judge by appearance.
In nature everything is connected. The earth, the water, the plants and the animals are entangeled in the eternal dance of unity. The human, no longer living in union with the trees, is bound to spend its lifetime in separation. Two spirits defying all odds, escape into the darkness oft he forrest to find each other. In dance they finally see their true nature...mirrors of one soul or rather just the forests dream. A film and a dance...
KAGAMI is a visual experimentation with dance created out of the desire to portray the nature of un-gendered love and express the energy of deeper connection that lies beneath the surface of body, by inviting two gender-queer bodies to transform momentarily into trees. How would love and connection look like if we were looking at it from the perspective of tree souls? How would our interaction with each other change? How would the audience perceive this kind of love i fit were taken out oft he context of homosexuality and replaced with a variation of ecosexuality?
Finally it is a short film, designed to become the background space installation for a future improvisation of dance. The two bodies engage every time new in a kind of search for each other in a space filled with multiple projections of themselves, guided by the invisible thread that connects their souls. Despite seeing a multitude of others, not knowing which is real and which is film, will they meet for a final dance?
